Description:
A Wilderness Adventure in the West Highlands of Scotland, The Knoydart Peninsula. Beginning with an overnight train from London to Fort William (Via Edinburgh), our “Live Wild” adventure sees us based in the stunning and remote Knoydart Peninsula in the West Highlands of Scotland, also known as “The UK’s last remaining wilderness”. This is a wild adventure of exploration and self sufficiency in which students have the opportunity to explore mountains, lochs, flora and fauna of this wild landscape -touching on themes of sustainability, conservation and community. We can run this as a 7-10 day adventure, using either a base camp model or ...a journey model – depending on the team’s needs and wider adventure objectives. This programme can also be delivered as The John Muir Award. Students will contribute to a local re-wilding initiative (in the home of The John Muir Foundation), and earn their John Muir Explore Award. Through this adventure students learn self-sufficiency and how to work as a team to move mindfully through a stunning remote landscape. Led by experienced, qualified and inspiring leaders, this is a journey of connection with self, each other and with the natural world of which we are a part. Potential Maximum Number of Students: 15
We’re passionate about the value of getting outside and going on a wild adventure, and the impact it has on our individual and collective wellbeing. We believe this value is amplified when we do this mindfully with a focus on the journey itself.
Taking the time to explore, notice, think and feel through activities such as wild swimming, wild-camping, journaling, yoga, play, and foraging fosters a deeper sense of connection to ourselves, each other and the environments we’re in. Making us more likely to feel a deeper sense of connection, compassion and stewardship for all things: ourselves, each other and all living things.
The more time we spend outside in wild places, the more we realise how interconnected everything is – and the part we play within it all.
All our adventures, whether 2 or 10 days, whether we sleep under the sky or in cosy local accommodation, involve qualified, experienced and inspiring leaders and hand-picked locations with safety and world-class leadership at the heart.
We know that mindful adventures in wild places inspire life both during the time we’re together, and long after we return home – serving to impact our own, our collective and our whole planet’s health and wellbeing both now and in the future.
We deliver “Wild Adventures To Inspire Life”. We’re proudly guided by our values.
Be human
We’re all of equal value, sharing planet earth, seeking love, meaning and truth.
Be accessible
We’re committed to breaking down barriers to accessing adventure in wild places. We actively seek opportunities to support individuals and groups in this space. we listen. 1% of sales contribute to the living bursary in order to support access for those who may, at that time, feel excluded due to financial circumstances. We invite guests to contribute where they can too.
Be the change
We’re in business for social and environmental good. While we don’t have all the answers, we’re committed to challenging ourselves to consider how we do business, in terms of responsibility, and satisfaction for the soul.
Be wild
We’re guardians of the wild. 1% of all sales are used to support not for profit organisations and activists working to re-wild our planet. In 2021 we supported Pigwiggen Woods in Dartmoor – a family re-wilding initiative. In 2022 we supported The John Muir Trust and their inspiring work.
Be the light
We’re in this for fun. The wild is free, both within and without. We celebrate the miracle of living right now, exactly where we are.
